Formal Notification of Fake Vaisakhi Poster in Circulation
The Council of Sikh Gurudwaras Birmingham (CSGB) has become aware of a fake poster in circulation spreading misinformation that GNNSJ is organising an event for Vaisakhi on Sunday 30th April 2023. The CSGB, which serves the Gurudwaras in Birmingham and has been leading the Vaisakhi planning in Birmingham, confirms that no such event has been planned, agreed or is scheduled to happen.
The CSGB team also confirms all Gurudwaras in Birmingham can influence and shape CSGB activities as required. We request all Gurudwaras, and other related organisations, to take immediate steps to inform the Sangat that this fake event on 30th April IS NOT TAKING PLACE. The fake posters have been circulated without CSGB authority and seriously undermines community welfare, safety and reputation. The Police and other relevant authorities have been notified to ensure all parties are duly protected from harm and we will support the police with their ongoing investigations.
We would like to assure everyone, the Birmingham and Sandwell Vaisakhi planning committee, consisting of Pardaans and lead persons from the Gurudwaras, and CSGB are working on an event for all Sangat this May 2023 and once authorisations are in place we will share this information.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the fake poster and assure the Sangat that we are working with Gurudwaras to ensure events are arranged safely.
